The purpose of the jazz ensemble is to give students the opportunity to explore jazz as an art form and performance medium, and to learn appropriate jazz techniques including basic fundamentals of improvisation.

Membership Information:
Jazz Ensemble members must be in at least their second year of band classes. Students in their first year of band, or who are not in the GMS Band program will only be accepted into the Jazz Ensemble if there is space available, and if they can demonstrate sufficient music reading skills to participate. All students wanting to be in Jazz Ensemble may be required to audition, depending on demand.
